Biography
Dr. Santhosh Upadhyaya completed his medical school and pediatric residency training at Kasturba Medical College, Manipal University, India. He worked as an Assistant Professor of pediatrics in Manipal University from 2004-2009. While working as a faculty in Manipal, he developed an interest in childhood cancers. Dr. Upadhyaya moved to the United States of America in 2009 to pursue his interests, and did his second pediatric residency training at St. John Hospital & Medical Center in Detroit, where he was the Chief Pediatric Resident from 2011-2012. He went on to complete his pediatric hematology oncology fellowship at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor (2012-2015) and a year of pediatric neuro-oncology fellowship at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Memphis (2015-2016). Dr. Upadhyaya then joined as a junior faculty in oncology at St. Jude in July 2016. His clinical focus is the care of children with brain tumors, with a special interest in atypical teratoid/rhabdoid tumors (ATRT) and ependymoma. His research focuses on the application of genetic and molecular advances in formulating clinical trials aimed at improving survival and reducing long term side effects in children with AT/RT and Ependymoma. He has mentored several medical students and pediatric residents and is now collaborating on numerous clinical trials with researches across the country.
