Biography
Dr. Giovanni Morana was born in Ragusa, Italy, 8 Mar 1975. He received his medical degree from “Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore”, Rome, 2000, finals cum laude, the specialization in Radiology from University “G. d’Annunzio”, Chieti, 2005, finals cum laude, and the PhD in Neuroscience from the University of Genova, 2016, finals excellent. In 2010 he spent five months as an observer at the Department of Radiology, Division of Neuroradiology, at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, USA. In 2012 he received the European Certification of Neuroradiology. He is full member of the Italian Society of Medical Radiology (SIRM), Italian Association of Neuroradiology (AINR), European Society of Radiology (ESR), European Society of Neuroradiology (ESNR) and European Society of Hybrid Imaging (ESHI). In 2016 was nominated fellow of the International Cancer Imaging Society (ICIS) and in 2017 was elected board member of the Italian Association of Neuroradiology. He is Contract Professor of Pediatric Neuroradiology at University of Genoa, since 2012. He published 74 papers in peer-reviewed medical journals (68 indexed on Pubmed) and 15 book chapters and served as a reviewer for Neurology, Neuroradiology, European radiology, European Journal of Radiology, World Journal of Pediatrics and Journal of Nanobiotechnology. Dr. Morana’s main research interest is pediatric neuro-oncologic diagnostic imaging and in particular the application of advanced multimodal multiparametric MR and PET imaging techniques in the field of pediatric brain tumors.
