Biography

Since 2005 I have been the Pediatric Neuro- Oncology Nurse Practitioner in the Division of Pediatric Hematology, Oncology and Stem Cell Transplant at the Children’s Hospital of New York Presbyterian, Columbia University. Prior to coming to Columbia I was the Director of a Hospice. My primary responsibility is to provide comprehensive therapy and support for children with brain and spinal cord tumors. My responsibilities include all aspects of inpatient and outpatient care including compliance with research protocols, provide educational and emotional support to patients, families and staff. I also ensure transition through the journey from aggressive lifesaving treatment to palliative and end of life care. My primary research interest is how nutrition affects therapies and outcomes of brain tumors. Other areas of interest include complementary/alternative medicine in pediatric oncology including nutrition, massage, acupuncture, essential oils and aroma therapy.  In addition I volunteer in the West Indies to improve outcomes for children with cancer. My teaching responsibilities include clinical precepting pediatric oncology fellows and nurse practitioner students from Columbia University and the University of Pennsylvania.
