Biography

David Jones is a biologist, whose primary research focus is the application of cutting-edge genomics techniques to both basic and translational research in pediatric neurooncology. After completing his PhD at the University of Cambridge, he joined the German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ) in Heidelberg, Germany in 2010 to work on the ICGC PedBrain Tumor sequencing project. He has played an integral role in the context of this initiative, and has been involved as a principal author on several high-impact publications. Now working as group leader for Pediatric Glioma Research, he is continuing to work on integrative genomic and epigenomic analyses of pediatric gliomas using NGS approaches. The modelling of identified alterations for pre-clinical testing is also an increasingly important part of the group’s work. In addition, David is coordinating two international personalised oncology projects using the latest techniques to improve diagnostic accuracy (MNP2.0) and identify novel treatment approaches for pediatric cancer patients (INFORM).
